Celebrating a Sweet Baby Girl in Our Murrysville Studio

There are some sessions that stay with us — the kind that unfold like magic from the very first frame. My recent milestone session in the Murrysville studio with a darling baby girl was exactly that kind of experience. With her soulful, big brown eyes and a calm, gentle spirit, she brought a quiet magic to every setup, especially during her moody backdrop styled portraits and playful cake smash finale.

Styling

This session marked her first birthday celebration. A huge milestone filled with so much emotion for parents and such joy to capture. We styled the shoot using a moody backdrop look, textured tones in rich, neutral hues that highlight a baby’s natural beauty and personality without distraction. And she absolutely glowed.

From the moment she sat down in the studio, she drew me in. Her expressions were thoughtful and curious, her gaze direct and engaging. Moody backdrops are all about contrast and depth — and her big brown eyes were the perfect complement, catching the light just right. These portraits were filled with warmth and intimacy, the kind of timeless art we love to create.

Every session is styled with 3 looks. I created a soft mauve setup seen below. I love this color tone for little girls and the added textures.

Bring on the CAKE

No milestone session is complete without a little cake. This little one has a very talented mom who created her cake just for her. Her tentative first touches turned into joyful, messy smashes. Frosting-covered fingers and a whole lot of personality made this part of the session a perfect celebration of her one-year journey.
